Letters of Support

Dear Cammino Community,

I’ve been debating whether or not to include a blog on this website, largely because I feel intimidated by the process of trying to think of new things to write & share about on a regular basis! I love to write, and, very little of my writing (creative or otherwise) has been for an audience of more than one or two folx. So this website is a new adventure for me, and I’m excited to explore the many options for cultivating and being in community with all of you!

Within this, I decided to personalize the blog aspect of this site by using a type of writing I have found both therapeutic and connective: letters of support. Over the years I’ve written letters to myself (current, past and future!), my local community, individual loved ones, spiritual ancestors, my various experiences of a higher power, and even things like anxiety, anger, grief, sadness, the values that are precious to me, and the chronic health condition that inhabits my body. I have found that the act of writing a letter speaks to my experience that I am in intimate relationship with/to all of these aspects of my journey, all of these “companions” so to speak — and my belief that all of our experiences have a relational aspect and can be processed and shared in a way that highlights and honors the importance of being in relationship.

Many of the letters I share through this blog will be directed to an audience of companions on this collective journey toward healing and wholeness that I believe we are all on — individually, and together — and I’m grateful that audience now includes you! Some of the letters that appear here may also be to directed to other “Dear Ones” I have written to, with an invitation for you to bear witness to those relationships and my journey with those parts of myself and my lived experience in case the experience of bearing witness might also be an experience of being seen and connected. I may share external resources that have provided support for my journey in these letters, and at times, the letters themselves may be the resources.

As this blog invites you into community with myself, my journey, and those who may gather here to share these resources, I would also invite you to consider whether letter writing may be a meaningful practice for you as well — and welcome you to utilize my Contact page to write me letters with your impressions, feedback and responses that you may want to also share into this community. Maybe one day this can become a space for connection and collective liberation through the writing and sharing of letters we write to ourselves, one another, our community, our struggles, our humanity, our values and our world.

Peace,

Glynn
